Dormer Pramet sponsors next generation of record-breaking engineers

In past years, Dormer Pramet has sponsored engineering students at TU Delft in the Netherlands on several projects to further fuel efficiency technology.

Each year, select students put their normal studies on hold as they focus on designing, manufacturing, and building working vehicles that run on hydrogen fuel cells. The teams then compete against teams from around the world in feats of mechanical performance.

Last year, we provided tools and expert advice to the Hydro Motion team that built a hydrogen-fuelled boat to compete for speed and distance contests with a second-place finish against other students and professional teams.

This year, we sponsored the Hydro Motion again and expanded our sponsorship to include Project March, a team building a personal exoskeleton, and the Eco-Runner team, a team building a light city car powered by hydrogen.

The Eco-Runner team crushed the world record for land travel: the car the students designed drove just over 1500 miles (2490km) on under 2 pounds (900 grams) of hydrogen breaking the record previously held by Toyota.

These future engineers are looking for ways to further the use of hydrogen fuel the technology in land and maritime travel, not just for individual users, but for shipping and commerce, and we are proud to continue to support them.
